How to use VCMII to solve Ford Edge 2008 not starting, no spark

Ford Edge 2008 will not start, there is no spark

When I turn on the ignition, fuel pump shakes once, you turn the starter turns but the RPM do not rise,

Scanner also showing that there is no symptoms of crankshaft signals,

But other parameters of other sensors Like engine coolant, air temperature , the gas pedal, electronic throttle control, mass air flow sensor is OK

Wiring from crankshaft sensor to PCM is OK.

Resistance of crankshaft sensor is also OK. its about 700 Ohms

(Immo related fault or Other Computer faults does not have, )

Interesting thing is this when you disconnect any other sensor or injectors, PCM is detecting disconnected sensors
but it’s not detecting that crankshaft sensor fault. even after cranking it’s not showing, cranshaft missing fault is not appearing on faults list .

What to do:

Program another known good PCM if problem persists check continuity of CKP harness and probably replace CKP sensor.

When you replaced with a used PCM it’s not compulsory to change VIN. Just make sure the programming procedure is properly followed.

Finally.

pins from sensor to ecu contacts once again checked, checked crankshaft clearances, the car started.

The conclusion is the following: for diagnostics by OBD one can’t see any error, Autel Maxisys ( FORD) and Launch 431 ( FORD) also don’t see that there is a crankshaft sensor or not. maybe there is no such function at all in the PCM itself to sense disconnected crankshaft sensor … if it is a factory made then it should not repeat again … if not, then sooner or later this car will not start again ….

No any of above scanner are seeing RPM while starter turns, its showing RPM after the engine is running

Best bet is to use FORD IDS for PCM programming.

***NONE of the clone VCM2 will do old PCM programming is because of the EEprom programming signal higher voltage required can’t be produced by those clones.

In short, when programming these PCM, the VCM sends a higher voltage (around 18v) to 1 pin of the PCM to “open” the programming session. Clones can’t do that.

Better get an OEM VCM2 as I did.
Buy 1 good tool instead of 2 or 3 crap tool

How to use Ford IDS for PCM reprogramming?

Note: The following parts show how to use the best VCM2 Ford IDS (Item No. SP177) do the PCM programming. As for the other version of VCM2, please try at your own lucky.

Please connect the cloned VCM2 unit to the car and run Ford IDS

Step 1:Select the toolbox tab at the top of the screen

Step 2: Select “Module Programming

Step 3: Select the tick mark or the Enter key

Step 4: Select “Module Reprogramming

Step 5: From the fly out menu, select the type of module to be reprogrammed

Step 6: Select the tick mark or the Enter key

Step 7: The application will compare the current calibration level to the latest one available for that vehicle. A message will appear.

Step 7A: If no later calibration is available, a message will appear indicating this. Select the tick mark or the Enter key to return to the Module Programming menu.

Step 7B: If a later calibration is available, a message will appear asking if you want to reprogram the module with this calibration. If you do not want to reprogram the module, select “No”. You will be returned to the Module Programming menu.

Step 8: If you want to reprogram the module, select “Yes” in response to the question “Do you want to program the vehicle with this calibration?”

Step 9: Make sure that an Internet connection has been established and then select ”Confirm”

Step 10: You will be presented with a screen that recommends that you carry out Self Test. If you choose to complete this test, you will receive a list of Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC’s) that have been set on the vehicle. When finished viewing this list, select “Exit”.

Step 11: Follow the on-screen instructions to prepare the vehicle and turn the ignition key off and on.

Select the tick mark or the Enter key after each one.

Step 12: If necessary, apply the reprogramming label to the PCM

If an emissions recall has been performed or a required emissions-related TSB has been completed, an Authorized Modification label must be placed on the PCM. These labels can be purchased at the parts counter of a Ford or Lincoln/Mercury dealership.

Step 13: Select the tick mark or the Enter key to return to the Module Programming menu of Ford IDS.

Ford OBD I Diagnostic Codes:

Full list of OBD I Diagnostic Trouble Codes for your Ford Vehicle. If your Check engine light is on you may have a serious problem. Scan your codes and follow the chart to determine what the code means. Some shops will scan your codes for free. Ford VCM2 IDS is the professional Ford Mazda diagnostic tool that will show you the trouble codes. Or do it yourself with the procedure posted below.

To read out the DTCs from the computer for diagnostic purposes, the Self Test connector is used.

  1. Start engine and bring to normal operating temperature. If engine will not start or stalls after starting, proceed with next step.
  2. Turn the key “OFF”, then wait ten seconds.
  3. Activate the self test by grounding the Self-Test Input (STI) connector.
  4. Turn the ignition key “ON”.
  5. Record all codes received.
  6. Turn ignition “OFF”.

All models with M35080 chip

This chip can be found in all E46, E38, E39 and X5 since model 2001.

You can recognize model 2001 by the diagnostic port: it has not the round one in the

motorroom like the old models, but an OBD II port inside the car

These clusters can be programmed only to more kilometers, not less than before.

So there are 2 ways to get the desired kilometers:

1. You buy a new cluster that has never been in a car (as you put it in it would

return immediately to the original kilometers!) This cluster will be new

coded and the kilometers will be put up from 0 to the desired value. This is

all done with the 912 cluster-plug.

2. The original M35080 is replaced by a new one.

Method 1: new cluster

Not only the E46 is done this way, also the others, but the E46 program is used for it.

Use the 912 plug:

tacho-pro-2008-bmw-15

connect the plug with the original cluster like shown:

tacho-pro-2008-bmw-16 tacho-pro-2008-bmw-17 tacho-pro-2008-bmw-18

select the menu BMW-3er E46- 35080- Tacho–>Diga

• the Tacho Universal saves the original data.

• now connect the new cluster like shown.

• select the menu BMW-3er E46-35080- Diga–> Tacho.

• now you see a list with all saved data. Select the last saved data.

• now the new cluster is coded.

• select the menu BMW-3er E46-35080- Clock

Enter the new kilometers. Now the kilometers are clocked. This may take some

time. Please always check how far it has gone!

Method 2: new chip

Manual to get access to the chip at the end

Use the M35080 clip and this board:

tacho-pro-2008-bmw-7

connect the clip with port 1.

• connect the clip to the original unsoldered M35080 (red on pin 1).

• select the menu BMW-3er E46-35080-clip

• the Tacho Universal shows you the old value.

• save the data.

• Now put the clip on the new M35080 chip.

• Select the menu load.

• Select the data you have just saved and send it with write all to the new chip.

This may take some time.

• The warning data not equal is here not important.

• Select the menu adjust kilometers.

• Enter the new value and press OK.

• Solder the new chip on the circuit board.

Important: never program a value less than 300 km!!!

for example:
X100
OBDSTAR Mileage
X-TOOL
IPROG +, PROG
Some ask to remove Battery several seconds.
It is also possible to do it by J-tag with any team.
upa, orange5, Xprog, smok, GC100, among others.
that have the MCU 9S12 supported.

Thanks

Opel EDC16C9 ecu reading and writing tools feedback

0281011449

1037379356

I want do make DPF/EGR Off….

Solution from OBDexpress.co.uk:Five ECU tool recommend to you:MPPS V16,MPPS V18, KTAG 7.020,KESS 5.017 and V54 FGTech Galletto 0475

Feedback:

  1. MPPS V16 good read in obd.

I read some 2004 – 2006 edc16c9 and all by MPPS.

mpps v16 remap Opel astra 1.9cdti with no problem:

MPPS V18 clone read/write Opel Astra EDC16C9.

  1. Possible with Ktag 7.020: open ecu and read on bdm frame. work 100%.

some astra h ecu can not be read/write by obd only bdm ….. any way is ok to have bdm in case of obd write fail.

Best eu ktag with red pcb at good price: http://www.obdexpress.co.uk/wholesale/ktm100-ktag-red-pcb-ecu-programmer.html

  1. I write my Opel astra 1.9cdti edc16c9 with kess v2 for 4 times without problems.

On opel edc16 to make a dpf off 100% safe to process the file in bdm, the serial file is not usually complete.
